2008 Customer Service Conference Summary
The annual Customer
Service Seminar was help June 26 at Cabela's in Richfield.
Participants learned that retail customer service is not
that much different from utility customer service in a
presentation by Darcy Clarke, the corporate trainer for
Cabela's. Service with a smile and engaging the customer in
meaningful conversation seem to be universal priorities. YOU
are your company when you are on the phone.
Jane Zemlicka of the PSC explained how to work with in the
law regarding eviction. Foreclosures, leases, and landlords.
This is especially timely with the increased number of
foreclosures. Jane also returned in the afternoon to explain
using the taxroll as a collection tool.
Katie Rivett and Lisa Salo from the accounting firm of
Clifton Gunderson LLC spoke about fraud, cash handling, and
internal controls. They told about fraud they encountered
and how it happened. It was a nice refresher on a important
topic that does not get attention until it is a problem.
After shopping and lunch the group learned about office
ergonomics and did some stretching exercises They then heard
about some payments options and the PSC stance on fees
associated with some options. The day was closed out with a
presentation by Amy Vaclavik on the CCR (Consumer Confidence
Reports) requirements. A CD with samples was handed out.
After door prizes and more shopping the participants were on
the road again. The Customer Service Committee would like to
acknowledge Badger Meter for their financial support of this
seminar.
